A late 1967 memo from the CIA Chief of the Western Hemisphere Division to the Deputy Director for Plans reviewed the links between the Brown/Slafter case and individuals involved in the Garrison investigation. He was survived by a daughter, Margery Hechtman, a son, Theodore Gertz, two brothers: Robert Gertz and Dr. George Gertz; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

From 1976 until death at Georgetown, SC. He taught at Coastal Carolina College, a subsidiary of University of South Carolina. Gordon died September 27, 1987.
